About me

My name is Haoqun Cao. I'm currently a 1st-year Statistics PhD student at UWMadison. I receive a B.S. in Statistics in 2024 from Renmin University. My undergraduate thesis supervisor is Prof.Feng Zhou. I'm also very priviledged to be mentored by Prof.Annie Qu during my summer intern at UCIrvine.

Besides Statistics, I enjoy reading books about history, playing soccer and video games. Feel free to contact me if you share similar research interest or hobbies with me!

Research Interest

I'm broadly interested in many areas of statistics and machine learning during my undergraduate studies and research internships. I do take pleasure from learning Statistics and Mathematics theory.
Currently, my main research interest is to develop efficient machine learning algorithms for large scale data with theoretical guarantees. I recently work on score-based generative models for point processes. I also once worked on approximate Bayesian inference, Off-Policy Evaluation in reinforcement learning and mobile health.

You can check my CV and google scholar.

Service

In my undergraduate study, I was a member Statistical Investigation Association of School of Statistics, where stat major students orgnize some introductory lectures on R, Rmarkdown, Python and Statistics for people from different fields, both on and off campus.

Here are some videos of those lectures that I presented(in Chinese) if you are interested.
